NIGERIA POLICE FIRES A SCAPEGOAT OFFICER FOR EXTORTING THE PUBLIC

August 2, 2022

SubTopics: (1) NO POLICE SINCERITY TO STOP EXTORTION…NO PROBING OF INDICTED HIGH COMMAND; (2) NOT EVEN THE CONFESSED OFFICER’S COLLEAGUES AT THE EXTORTION ARE MENTIONED IN THE PUNISHMENT; (3) OBVIOUSLY, THE CONFESSED-OFFICER’S REAL SIN IS THAT HE EXPOSED THE HIGH COMMAND, MEEEEEEEEEEEN!!!

This is “No Bullshitting,” by Harry Agina

Greetings, folks!

As usual, I am not here to break any Nigerian or African news to ya; that’s not my style. It’s my style to comment on news topics, with no-bullshitting analysis. Yeah, I even do a little lambasting here and there, too, where necessary. Okay, you got me there; I lied a little. I do quite a lot of lambasting, meeeeeeeeen!!!

You’ve seen my titling; so you already know that I’m about to lambaste Nigeria Police Force for its leadership’s insincerity in reforming their rotten system. This insincerity has been traditional since the inception of the “Fourth Republic” Nigeria in 1999. It manifested recently again in their handling of the case of an idiotic extortionist police officer who nemesis recently caught up with. Um huh, nemesis truly caught up with Inspector Richard Gele when he, in stupid and evil audacity, boasted that he is proud to extort the public on the highways. The motherfucking police extortionist had no idea that his confession was being recorded to go viral. Boy, I could truly kiss all the geniuses who invented all the technologies that comprise the social media, meeeeeeeeeen!!!

My commentary will embellish my main title with the three sub-titles. And the title posits that Nigeria Police leadership often uses unfortunate scapegoats to pretend that they are “working to sanitize the Force.” They are always “working to sanitize,” but we never, ever see any result. In reality, the Police leadership ain’t got no fucking intention to reform the institution for true democracy. The are still in the military mindset of brutalizing and extorting the people of Nigeria, and they are not making any true effort to reform the system.

Let’s take a look at the the viral video of the idiotic police officer who put himself in big trouble. He has served as a scapegoat for the leadership, to pretend that it is “working to sanitize the Police Force,” the result of which we have never seen. And then, I will give you the video of the Police High Command reprimanding the fool in a big fanfare. Finally, I will tell you why I call the exercise a facade, and why I call the idiotic offer a scapegoat. Here we go with the idiotic officer:

I will summarize the Pidgin-English words of the police officer, for the benefit of my non-African readers. It’s really not that difficult to get the gist of it from the man. His Pidgin-English is the simple type that is more English than Pidgin. Anyway, he says that he is proud and bold to admit that he extorts Nigerians, and his High Command knows about it and supports it. That, what the High Command is interested in, is for him to extort large enough money to benefit them substantially, ans not chump-change. He says that the complicity goes all the way up to the biggest boss, the Inspector General of Police (IGP). Hence, he demands high money from his victims. He’s openly asking how much money the current victim is offering to be set free, because he won’t accept anything small. Next, I’ll let you watch what I call a facade, which was created by Nigeria Police Force leadership. Afterwards, I will tell you why I believe that it is all a facade, thus:

Okay now, you have watched the last video, and you saw how the Police Command has disgraced the errant officer. Now, let’s examine some of my issues with this, to embellish my position that it’s all a facade. The idiotic, criminal, police officer in the first video was used as a scapegoat by the leadership in the second video, to give us the impression that it is interested in reforming the Police Force. Recall that the scapegoat-officer in the first video mentions that the entire high command of the Police is involved in the extortion of the public. It goes all the way up to the highest authority, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), he says.

I mentioned this complicity in my previous blog on this subject. Police officers call it “making-returns” to their superior officers. In fact, it is said that the officers actually bribe the commanding officer to get on the roster to go on duty in extortion-lucrative highways or communities. I learned this personally from some ‘horses’ mouths,’ at various times of my presence in Nigeria. I was informed by police officer-friends and acquaintances. In fact, it is a common knowledge among most Nigerians…among all Nigerians indeed! Nigerians are quite aware that public extortion and some other corrupt practices in Nigeria Police Force have not been stopped because the Police highest command is often complicit. The leadership only uses some officers sometimes as scapegoats, to pretend to be sincere about fighting corruption in the system.

I have a link for you at the end of this piece. It links you to one of my previous blogs on Nigeria Police and brutality. I published it during the “EndSARS” protest against police brutality in 2020.

Now, here’s my first thematic question to embellish my position today that the hoopla in the second video above is all a facade: How come that nothing is said about probing the Police High Command, which is indicted, huh? A sincere Police System would have addressed the allegation, and a serious probe into the allegation would have ensued; wouldn’t it? In fact, did you even see any mention of the other officers who were on the scene extorting the motorists with the confessing idiot? Did you see any talk of punishment for those co-extortionist colleagues? A particular officer is seen standing by his confessing colleague, grinning mischievously. I haven’t heard of any punishment for him and the others who were not caught by the camera.

My point, in conclusion, is that the Nigeria Police Force fired the confessed extortionist, not necessarily for his crime of extortion. No sir, no ma’am! If you ask me, or even if you don’t ask me, I still say this to ya: The Police leadership is probably pissed off more because the confessed officer exposed their asses. They don’t really give a fuck about reforming the Police Force because the corruption apparently serves their purpose. They only pay lip-service when they claim to be working on reforming the system to clean up the rot. Otherwise, why is it that we never ever see the effects of their “working to sanitize the Police Force,” which we have heard from every fucking IGP we have had since 1999, huh? I have a good reason to believe that you trust, that I ain’t bullshitting ya; and you’re doggone right, meeeeeeeeeen!!!
