THE IGBO QUIT NOTICE & DAMAGE CONTROL

Greetings folks!

Once again, I commend Nigeria’s Acting President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, for his prompt and decisive reaction to the quit notice served on Igbo people in Northern Nigeria by northern youths. I also repeat my commendation to all the individuals and groups who have spoken up against the issuers of the quit notice; as well as those who have openly condemned Nnamdi Kanu whose unilateral warmongering utterances and posture engendered the quit notice. The “Middle- Belt” region is among the latest groups to condemn the Arewa Youth Organization, disassociating itself from the call for the Igbos to leave the north. There is no question that those
reactions are making a desirable difference.

Unfortunately, however, I am afraid that there is a damage already done, which is almost irreversible, and I will explain my fear, presently. Yes, there are all manner of meetings and
comments from appropriate quarters in Nigeria to douse the tension engendered by Kanu’s agitation excesses and the northern youths’ extreme response of quit notice. And, yes indeed, the efforts are definitely yielding positive results. But, guess what; the efficacy of the goings-on that I see so far is mostly at the elite level of the society; for those who are enlightened and privileged
to read the newspapers or watch TV or interact on social media.

So, how about the grassroots foot-soldiers—both in the north and south—who actually constitute the impending danger? They are not in the tension-dousing mix yet! I speak of the Igbo illiterates and urchins who believe in Nnamdi Kanu and his warmongering posture. You can still
see and hear them at the motor parks and marketplaces hailing Kanu and his quest for Biarfra at all costs. And, I speak of the illiterates and urchins in the north who are ready and waiting to carry out the threat to kill the Igbos in the north when the quit notice deadline arrives in October.
I speak of millions of youngsters who are not part of all the elitist meetings, conferences, and dialogues that have been instituted all over Nigeria. I speak of the urchins who do not understand all the dogo turenchi (big English grammar) and the positive pronouncements that flood the media in effort to quell the tension.
Yes, indeed; I speak of all those loose cannons in the north who are just counting the days to the quit notice deadline so that they will explode and kill as many Igbos in the north as possible, in fulfilment of the command of their elite commanders. I speak of the fact that some of those urchins who are extremist Moslem’s consider the October assignment as a religious jihad that must be followed through, which makes them more dangerous than the average northern youths.

And, I speak of the certain retaliatory response by the loose cannons in the southeast that will claim the lives of northerners who reside in the southeast. I am afraid of the fact that this explosive situation that has been ignited is now hard to put under complete control.
TWO-WAY EXODUS
I am saying, in other words, that the only way to have absolutely no killings in Nigeria come October 2017, is to ensure that all the Igbos heed the warning and head to the south before the deadline. And, with my knowledge of my Igbo brethren, I know that complete exodus to the south ain’t gonna happen!!! And, of course, if all the Igbos do not leave the north and even one of them is killed, then the retaliatory killing of northerners in Igbo land is almost guaranteed, unfortunately. Hence, two-way exodus, even if temporary, is probably the only answer to the huge problem engendered by Nnamdi Kanu and the Arewa Youth Organization in Nigeria.Otherwise, as I said, I am afraid that some lives are likely to be lost in October 2017, in spite of the current efforts; except….
MAXIMUM GRASSROOTS DAMAGE CONTROL CAMPAIGN
Essentially, I speak of the urgent need to ensure that the entire elitist dogo turenchi (big English
grammar) campaign currently going on in Nigeria is BROKEN DOWN TO THE
GRASSROOTS LEVEL, AND CARRIED THROUGH THE APPROPRIATE PLATFORMS
DOWN TO THOSE VOLATILE FOOT-SOLDIERS WHO CONSTITUTE THE ACTUAL
DANGER, if indeed we hope to forestall this huge impending massacre. I speak of my belief that
the persons that can stop the northern urchins from carrying out the planned jihad against Igbos
in the north in October 2017, are the same persons that pronounced the jihad. They are the persons that the loose-cannon foot-soldiers are most likely to listen to, in the language that they understand. IN OTHER WORDS, THE AREWA YOUTH LEADERS WILL HAVE TO GO
ALL OUT TO DIFFUSE THE LOOSE CANNONS IN THE NORTH; the same way that they incensed them to the impending jihad. By this, they will also save the lives of the northerners in Igbo land. The good news is that the Igbo loose cannons are not necessarily eager to draw the first blood; but they are certainly waiting for that first blood to be drawn in the north to give them their own excuse to pounce on the northerners in Igbo land. So, the way I see it, the lives of many Nigerians that are caught in this ugly web are in the hands of the leaders of Arewa Youth Organization, and I PRAY THAT THEY HAVE SHEATHED THEIR SWORDS, AND PRAY
THAT THEY TAKE UP THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO GO ON SERIOUS GRASSROOTS
CAMPAIGN TO DIFFUSE THEIR TIME BOMB!!!
If you ask me; and even if nobody asks me, I still say that Nigeria’s Acting President and the
northern governors must channel all efforts towards convincing Arewa Youth Leaders to execute a serious grassroots campaign to diffuse the huge time bomb that they have set ticking. By Harry Agina: harryagina@yahoo.com
